A2338 MacBook Pro 13" Repair Atlanta
MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 2020 board-level repair
About the A2338 MacBook Pro
The A2338 is the MacBook Pro 13-inch with the M1 chip from late 2020 - one of the first Macs built on Apple Silicon. It features a 13.3-inch Retina display, two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, the Touch Bar, and the M1 chip with 8-core CPU and up to 16GB of unified memory. It was a breakthrough machine that delivered massive performance and battery life improvements over the Intel models it replaced.
Despite the M1's reputation for reliability, we're now seeing board-level failures on these machines as they age - particularly no power conditions, charging issues, and liquid damage. At The Mac Space, we perform component-level diagnostics and repair on A2338 logic boards, targeting the specific failed parts rather than replacing the entire board.
Common A2338 Issues We Repair
No Power / Dead Board
The most common A2338 failure we see. The MacBook won't turn on at all - no fan spin, no chime, no display. We trace the power delivery circuit on the M1 board to find and replace the failed component.
Not Charging / No MagSafe Light
MacBook not recognizing the charger or stuck at a low charge. We diagnose the USB-C charging circuit and CD3217 controller to restore charging functionality.
Liquid Damage
Spills cause corrosion and short circuits on the logic board. We perform ultrasonic cleaning and replace damaged components to recover liquid-damaged A2338 boards.
No Display / No Backlight
Screen stays black even though the Mac sounds like it's running, or the backlight won't come on. We diagnose and repair the display and backlight circuits on the A2338 logic board.
Battery Not Detected
Battery showing "Not Charging" or not recognized at all. Power management failures on the M1 board can prevent the battery from being detected - repairable at the component level.
Blown Speaker Amp / No Audio
Running speakers at max volume can blow a capacitor on the speaker amp circuit of the A2338 logic board, causing a no-power condition or complete board failure. We trace the fault to the blown cap and replace it to restore full functionality.

A2338 MacBook Pro Repair FAQ
Board-level repairs on the A2338 typically start at $350 and vary depending on the type of failure. Power circuit fixes are on the lower end, while complex liquid damage recovery may cost more. We provide a firm quote after diagnostics so you know exactly what you're paying before we proceed.
Most A2338 board-level repairs are completed within 5-10 business days. Diagnostics typically take 1-3 days, and the actual repair work depends on parts availability and complexity. We'll keep you updated throughout the process.
Yes. The A2338 M1 MacBook Pro has its storage soldered to the logic board as part of the M1 SoC, so your data stays on the board throughout the repair. We don't touch the NAND storage chips during component-level work. We always recommend having a backup, but your data should be exactly as you left it.
The M1 SoC itself can't be replaced, but most A2338 failures we see are in the supporting power delivery, charging, or display circuits around the M1 - not the M1 chip itself. These surrounding components are absolutely repairable with micro-soldering.
All board-level repairs come with a 60-day warranty covering the specific repair we performed. If the same issue returns within 60 days, we'll fix it at no additional charge.
